Smith, age 95, of Michigan City, IN passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN Jessie was born June 24, 1919 in Haleyville, Alabama to Charlie and Cora (nee Hicks) Crane, who preceded her in death. Jessie married Sherman Smith on December 7, 1941 in Florence, Alabama. Jessie is survived by daughters: Betty Jean (Jim) Conlin, New Buffalo, MI, Martha Lynn (Thurman) Crabb, Michigan City, IN, Alice Fay Harvey-Bailey, Michigan City, IN, and Shelia “Diane” (Mel) Maddox, Michigan City, IN; six grandchildren: Allison Lijewski, Chris Crabb, Kandy Standage, Michelle Conlin, Rick Maddox, and Steve Maddox; twenty-two great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandaughter; sister: Reba McGinnis, Michigan City, IN, brothers: Dale Crane, Michigan City, IN, and Charles Crane, Michigan City, IN. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband: Sherman Smith; grandson: Charles Crabb, brothers: Carlos, Willard, and Billy; sisters: Hazel Lindsey and Inez Willis great-grandaughter: Heighly Crabb; son-in-laws: Jerry Harvey and James Bailey. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home located at 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN and on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Full Gospel Church located at 2700 Ohio Street, Michigan City, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Full Gospel Church, with Reverend Dennis Pickens officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the Full Gospel Church.
