JESSIE L. EVANS, Sr., age 92 of Miller/Gary, IN, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Survived by five children: Jessie L. (Barbara) Evans, Jr., Canary D. Mason, Mario L. (Dorothy) Evans, Evelyn D. Adkins, Rogeta A. McKanders; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters: Lucille and Sue; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by wife, Florzell “Flossie” Evans; son, Derrick Curtis Evans; and nine siblings.

Mr. Evans was a member and elder of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Gary East and Miller Beach. He retired from Rockwell Standard with 32 years of service and was also a trade carpenter. Mr. Evans was a World War II Army veteran.

Family and friends may gather at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 7325 E. 1st Ave., Miller/Gary, IN at 11:00 am, Friday, January 27, 2017 for memorial services. Jessie will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, next to his wife.  Special thanks to VNA Hospice center in Valparaiso, Indiana for the special love and attention that was given
