James “Jim” Ollie

James “Jim” Ollie, age 85, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023

James is survived by his wife: Beverly; Son, Douglas; Grandson, Jason; and Granddaughter, Allison. Blood relative nieces: Sandy, Dina, Janyne and nephew Jimbo.

He was preceded in death by his Parents: James Ollie and Isabelle (Ollie) Wesche; Sisters: Jean (Jimmy), Rachel, Maxine; and Brother, Don.

Jim proudly served as a USAF staff sergeant for the 98th Bomber Wing where he was a B47E crew chief. He worked over 45 years at United States Steel Sheet & Tin as a foreman.

He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Supervisors Club for several decades. He enjoyed playing golf with his many friends, but mostly with his son. In later years he also enjoyed time with his grandkids.

For the family he married into 60 years ago, from day one you took me in as family. Thank you Linda, Sue and Robert, Keith, Rick and Wendy, Loretta and Don and all of the nieces and nephews. I miss the time I had with those who passed before me Russell and Virginia, Sharon and& Phid, Chistine and Jay, Darlene, Wanda, Sherri and Barb.

Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

I just now found this... My condolences to Jim's family. Jim was my forman at USS back in 1977. He was a quiet self-assured man!! Didn't say much but he knew what to do. When I was injured on the job, he took time to write up the incident then sent me for medical attention. A very professional man! And my I say a very respected man!! Also his warm smile as he looked at you with his blue eyes!! Was a pleasure to have Jim as my "boss" at USS.................. Henry.

Dear Jim, it seems like just yesterday you were coming by to pick me up to go and shoot nine holes at Calumet golf coarse, but I know that was 55 years ago. You will be missed by all.

Uncle Jim- you were one of those people everyone loved. I not once ever saw or heard you speak rashly. You made everyone feel excepted. You were a man of genuine spirit that spoke soft and loved hard. You've always been someone I've looked up to and although your body is gone your spirit will remain forever in all us who loved you.
