Jacquelyn “Jacky” Estes

October 17, 1936 - April 13, 2020

 

Jacquelyn (Jacky) L. Estes, age 83, of The Villages, FL and formerly of Michigan City, IN passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020. Jacky was born October 17, 1936 in Michigan City, IN to Milburn (Jack) Snyder and Oreatha Snyder who preceded her in death.  She married Frank Estes on August 29, 1958. Frank and Jacky were married for 55 years until Frank preceded her in death on September 22, 2013.  Jacky is survived by her children: Lee Estes of Los Angeles, CA, Kae (Kelly) Stewart of LaPorte, IN, Jack Estes of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren: Erica (Joseph) Picariello, Blake Stewart, Charlie Estes, Zoi Estes, Oliver Estes and great-grand sons, Rocco, Enzo, Luciano and Franco.  Jacky was a graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, IN where she earned a degree in teaching.  She worked as a secretary for the Lighthouse Place, and was the director of Meals on Wheels in Michigan City.  When she moved to The Villages, FL, she worked gate security for 20 years, which she enjoyed very much.  Jacky was the past President of Tri-Kappa, a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, she conducted many bible study groups and was a former member of Pottawattomie County Club.  Jacky cared so much about her faith, family and friends (in that order).  She created lifetime bonds with so many people that she cared deeply for.  One of her favorite things to do was to laugh. Due to the COVID virus, a service will not be held at this time.  Memorials can be made to Meals on Wheels, 301 E 8th Street, Michigan City, IN 46360 or The Congregational Church of Summerfield, 15421 S US HWY 301, Summerfield, FL  34491.

Dear Lee, Kae, Jack and Family, I can't believe that, I just found out about your lovely Mother's passing. I have such fond memories of her and growing up with all of your family. Our dear Mother's worked together for years, teaching Pre School at the Temple. Then for years we would go to your home for lunch when, my Mother was working or sick. Remember, we use to tell everyone that we were all cousins because, my Grandmother Loucille was also an Estes.
