Helen Melcher was dedicated to her family, her church, and her community. She served the youth of Crown Point as an excellent nurse at Taft Jr. High. She was a personal friend to me for 52 years. I will miss her very much, but remember what she taught me over the years.

Sending condolences to Helen's family from Arizona. I knew her when she worked as a school nurse and always enjoyed the time we spent together working on projects in Trinity League.

I’m sorry that I’m not in Indiana to share in remembering the wonderful times spent with Helen. It was always enjoyable working with her on projects, bazaars, Easter Breakfast and much more as members of Trinity League. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in your sorrow and as you celebrate Helen’s life.

Sharon, Sandy, Bill and family Please know that even though I won't be there my thoughts are with you at this time of sadness. I will always remember that every time I saw Aunt Helen she would make it a point to tell me how pretty my flowers were and how they made our yard look so nice. She was a very kind person.

I didn't know Helen well, but Bill, you and I were classmates at CPHS. Helen was a classmate of my mom, Joan Walker Smith, at Gary Methodist Hospital Nursing Training, and I got to connect with Helen when I'd take mom to the annual Nurses' Training Reunion luncheons at Teibels. Mom always spoke highly of Helen and loved the connection. Mom passed last October. Many great nurses came from that 3-year training at Gary Methodist.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

How I adored my Aunt Helen! I have so many fond memories of her unyielding care and concern for her family and her community. From my days of landing at her doorstep as a first grade student at Solon Robinson for lunch (uninvited I must add), to her devotion as a school nurse and the attending nurse at the County Fair for many years. She was a beacon of love to her children, step-children, grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews that only touches on what a wonderful and caring person she was. It warms my heart that she is reunited with Uncle Don. I will miss her physical presence on earth. Her spirit of selflessness will live on with all of the many who were touched by her. Love and light Aunt Helen, you made me a better person!

Deepest Sympathy to the family. I was the art teacher at Timothy Ball and South Ward when Helen was the school nurse. A person of great grace and knowledge, one. of the colleagues that I have missed from so many years ago. God Bless.

Dear, sweet Helen already knows how we feel about her, and we are so happy we were able to take her to lunch for her birthday and have a nice visit in June this year while we were visiting the US. She was a good stepmom and even though we pissed her off sometimes, she never yelled at us. ☺️ After Daddy died, I wasn’t real good on keeping in touch with her, having my own small family to raise and us living so far from her. But we always sent a Christmas card and letter to catch her up on all of our yearly deeds and trips. Several years ago, Bob and I started a yearly reunion, with other relatives help and organization, and we got to see her at least once a year and have a good catch up. I got very close to her the past few years with frequent phone calls and visits as well. She was a very strong and independent and she was an amazing woman. My daddy made a good choice for his life partner, and I’ll always be sad they couldn’t have lasted more than 13 years together. She waited so long to be back with him, but she always told us that all she was doing was “biding her time” until she could be with daddy again. Well. she finally got her wish and I’m sure her and daddy are so happy to be finally together again, for eternity. Now she’s forever happy and content, and I can’t be happier for her. I’ll never forget you, Helen, and I’m happy that you know I’ll always love you and forever miss you. ❤️?
