TO the Thorne Family, Our condolences on the passing of a wonderful man who greatly impacted the Kingdom of God! In 1982 I met Gordon and started a friendship and got to know his great kids. Then 5 yrs later I brought my sister Toni to church for the first time and across the Lobby she saw Gordon and her eyes got big and she walked over and they talked & hugged. My sister had been Gordons secretary for several years in the late 60's & 70's & had lost track of him. Gordon encouraged her in her faith walk when she worked for him, like he did for many people. Thank you Gordon for your example and for loving others so very well. We praise the Lord for your life and huge wonderful legacy! Condolences and Blessings to you all! Hi Greg & Cindy and Ron & Shannon! Hugs to you all! Long time no see! McLain Tallungan 847-644-4883

My heart goes out to you all. What a wonderful man, Father & Husband he was! (I didn’t have the pleasure of seeing him as a Grandfather.) A quiet but strong man of faith that was such a role model to me while in my early 20’s. Gordon & Rebecca were so generous to allow me to live with, and share in their family life, when my family was not safe. They provided a place of sanctuary to a very lost young woman who had much to overcome. Gordon was a fine example of devotion to God in the daily details, as well as his strong golf swing! His dry sense of humor makes me smile even as I write this. :) I still appreciate his generous example of what it means to strive to become more like Jesus with each passing day. His light has left the world, but may we burn brighter because of his bold investment and example to us.
