GLORIA KAPRANOS, age 83 of Gary, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014. Survived by her husband of 51 years, Nick; son, Bill Kapranos; granddaughter, Candace Kapranos; two great-grandsons, Orlando and Carmello; sister-in-law, Helen Torres; three nieces: Jackie and Georgette Kontos, Paulette (Kenny) Rogers; friends, Phyllis Harvey and Ned Pujo. Preceded in death by sister, Helen Kontos; two brothers: William and Steve Gianopoulis. Gloria was a member of SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Merrillville. She was a Democratic Precinct Committeewoman in Gary and Merrillville for 48 years. Gloria was a former clerk in the Lake County Treasurer’s Office and for Judge Schiralli’s office. She was a graduate of Froebel High School, Class of 1948. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.with a Trisagion Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at SS. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison Street, Merrillville with Fr. George Pappas officiating. At rest Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary. Memorials preferred to the family.
