Geraldine “Gerrie” DeFoor (nee Valenti), age 90, of Schererville, IN, formerly of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Gerrie is survived by her children: Marty DeFoor, Lori (Bob) Hill, Nancy (Kevin) Keough and Jeffrey DeFoor; grandchildren: Patrick (Katie), Mac and Grant Hill, Lily and Ladd DeFoor and Conor Keough; great-grandchildren: Lucas, Mason and MacKenzie; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her parents: Steve and Antoinette Valenti; and brother, John Valenti.

Gerrie graduated Emerson High School, Class of 1950. She retired from Wise Way after 26 years of service. Gerrie was most proud of her family and was an adoring mom, grandma and aunt. She had a full and active life, which included “shop ’til you drop.”

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Additional visitation will be on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 8303 W Taft St., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 9:30 AM until the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jerry Schweitzer officiating. Entombment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Gerrie’s name to Sharing Meadows, 6001-6437 County Rd 300 E, La Porte, IN 46350.
