Frank Dudash

FRANK W. DUDASH of Crown Point passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday January 8 2011 at the age of 93. Frank was born on Aug 31 1917 in the city of Gary and graduated from Froebel High School. He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp prior to his enlistment into the U.S. Army on May 13 1941. Frank served with the 4th Armored Division during World War II and was awarded among other citations the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Upon his return to the U.S. he married the love of his life Ethel Anduski and started a family. Frank was employed by U.S. Steel for over 45 years and attained the position of Senior General Foreman of the Gary Works #3 open hearth. After his retirement in 1981 Frank volunteered his time and efforts to a number of organizations. He filled many roles and served multiple terms as the President of Chapter XXX of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and the 4th Armored Division Association. He also served on the St. Anthony Medical Center Auxiliary for 14 years in roles ranging from admissions and pharmacy assistant to holding the position as president of the auxiliary for over 10 years. During his tenure Frank spearheaded fund raising efforts which led to the largest donations ever presented to St. Anthony Medical Center. Frank was a loyal Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame sports fan. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Hebron and is remembered for his love of God family and service to his fellow man. Frank is survived by his three children: Reverend Derrick F. Dudash pastor of St. Helen Catholic Church. Terrence M. Dudash CAPT USN (Ret.) and wife Judy & Sandra M. Dudash of Merrillville grandchildren: Derrick A. Dudash LCDR USN and fiancee Amy and Katherine (Dudash) Durlach and husband Dale LCDR USN great-grandchildren: Connor Jackson Durlach and soon to be born Kaylin Taylor Durlach sister Bertha Konopacki of Crown Point. Frank is preceded in death by his wife Ethel brother Ted Dudash and sister Eleanor Bone. Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service 811 E. Franciscan Dr. Crown Point ( S.R. 55 south of S.R. 231) on Wednesday January 12. A prayer service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with visitation following until 8:00 P.M. St. Anthony Auxiliary service at 2:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 13 2011 at 10:00 A.M. DIRECTLY at St. Helen Catholic Church (302 N. Madison St. Hebron IN) with Rev. Derrick Dudash and Bishop Dale J. Melczek concelebrating. There will be visitation at church 1 hour prior to services. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Schererville. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Anthony Auxiliary or to St. Helen Catholic Church.
