I was so very sorry to hear of Gene's passing. I remember him well from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Merrillville where we had been members together. Also my dear friend Sherry Jarvis was fortunate to experience Gene as one of her high school teachers in Highland, Indiana. May God's love comfort and hold you.

Don Small St. Clair left a message on August 3, 2022:
I have been friends with Gene since the 7th grade. We were in high school ROTC, and he was my roommate at Indiana University. He was so proud of his career in the Army Reserves, as well as his teaching career. I knew many people who loved him, as did I. He was the brother I never had, and I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, my Colonel.

Gene was my dad’s cousin, so he was my second cousin. I remember him from when I was a child and the Kelly Clan would gather at my great grandpa’s on Taney Place in Gary as being a very kind compassionate man often quiet and reserved but also with a good sense of humor who could discuss everything and keep you entertained for hours, I’m sorry for your loss. May Cousin Gene Rest In Peace.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
