Edmund “Hambone” Carl Hamilton, Jr., age 69, of Hebron, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kate Hamilton, as well as his two children, Erich and Sarah Hamilton and his younger sister, Sherri Lindeman. He is also survived by one son-in-law, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund C. Hamilton, Sr. and Loretta Hamilton, and his older sister, Coleen Hamilton.
For more than 30 years Ed was a machinist at Amoco, which later became British Petroleum (BP). He also selflessly served as a union representative and secretary treasurer for the United Steelworkers Union, Local 7-1. Fighting for the rights of his fellow workers was one of his many passions.
When Hambone was not working doubles at BP, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and drag racer. Ed was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. In his youth, Hambone also played ice hockey, softball, and volleyball. Throughout his life, he also engaged in other activities such as cycling, motorcycling, and coaching Little League baseball.
Friends and family may attend Ed’s viewing on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm (Central Time), at Geisen Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN 46341.
A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10am (Central Time) at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 509 W Division Rd., Valparaiso, IN 46385.
