Donna J. (Van Veld) Ingram, age 88, of Hebron, IN, passed away on March 24th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Greeting her in Jesus’ loving arms is her husband, Duane; son, Danny, parents: Tunis and Myrtle Van Veld; brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Norma Van Veld; sister, Phyllis Tobey.
Donna was born in Hammond, IN and moved to Hebron in 1938. A strong woman of faith, Donna was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church for 77 years. Continuing her walk with Christ until the very end, she organized a bible study in her home facilitated by the church’s pastor.
Donna was passionate about her hometown of Hebron, operating The Country Kitchen from 1951-1972 and The Country Closet – an exquisite women’s shop. Belonging to a women’s bowling league, the Junior Women’s Club, and golfing at Curtis Creek Country Club.
Donna was also passionate about making a change in her community, chartering Northwest Indiana’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) after losing her only son, Danny, to a drunk driver in 1981.
Donna and Duane proudly a purchased a second home in Titusville, FL at “The Great Outdoors” Golf Resort where they wintered for 20 years, enjoying the native wildlife, golfing, and nearby beaches and shuttle launches.
Continuously evolving, Donna had an affinity for learning – even becoming proficient with technology that she utilized on a daily basis.
Donna loved her family more than anything and cherished being a mother to Debi (Bill) Shertzer and Denise (Ray) Smith, along with being “Nana” to her 3 grandchildren: Cory (Jennifer) Wietbrock, Brianna (Jeff) Francis and McKenna Smith. Her sharp wit and humor brought such joy to many.
She is survived by brother, David (Susan) Van Veld; brother and sister-in-laws: Troy (Marilyn) Ingram and Phyllis (Dennis) Roby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is also thankful for Donna’s loving caregivers Wendy, Theresa, Diana, Jenette, Mckenna, Sandy, and Mary who have been by her side for more than five years.

Due to the current health crisis, a celebration of life service for extended family and friends will be announced at a later date.
