DONALD L. COKER, age 78 of Portage, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 57 years; three children: Kim (Don) Kilander, Scott Coker, Mindy (Ky) Badgley; three grandchildren: Whitney (Arunas) Slepikas, Bree Coker, Cameron Coker;two step-grandchildren: Kelli (Brian) Bos and Nathan (Sarah) Kilander; two great step-grandchildren: Kadence and Colten Bos; two brothers: Jerry (Betty) Coker, Billy Coker; his “daughter of the heart:” Brenda Aliff; nieces and nephews; and his in-laws: Jack (Ailene) Seitzinger and Roy (late Patty) Neeley; and his loving pets Ruby & Reggie. He is preceded in death by son: Steven L. Coker; parents Samuel & Florence Coker; brothers: Roland, Ralph, Charles; and sister Doris Polk.
Mr. Coker was a member of Southlake Church of the Nazarene and a former longtime member of Real Life Community Church. He was the owner of many Real Estate Agencies in Northwest Indiana and developed many subdivisions throughout Lake and Porter County. He was a graduate of Portage High School, Class of 1955. Donald made many friends through his participation in several fraternal organizations in NWI.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage) on Friday from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Dr. Lenny Wisehart officiating. At rest McCool Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Southlake Church of the Nazarene.
