Donald H. Pangburn, age 100, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2022 at Trail Creek Place in Michigan City. He was born on July 11, 1922 to James and Ruth (Ericson) Pangburn in Livingston Manor, NY.
Don is survived by many nieces and nephews and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy, his parents, and his sister, Ruth Nelson.
Don was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY where he received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Don proudly served in the United States Army during World War II spending 11 months in France and was a Chief Engineer when he retired at Bethlehem Steel from 1947 until his retirement in 1983. He spent most of his life in Maryland before coming to work at Bethlehem’s Burns Harbor Plant. Don was the 1st President of Primetimers and also served 20 years as Executive Director of the Flying Carpet Travel Group. Don loved to travel and garden. He was a warm, compassionate, and funny man. He loved to entertain the staff at Trail Creek Place with his jokes and sense of humor. He was truly a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Per Don’s request, services were private and entrusted to Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN.
