Fritz Gareis left a message on December 8, 2023:
I remember Don as a very kind, helpful and hard-working problem-solver. In college I observed him to be more likely to be taking out his toolbox than to be pulling out his books to study. Whether it was to repair a car or fix something that had broken in the fraternity house, he seemed to thrive on making things run properly. But, even more importantly, he also recognized the role of thoughtfulness, consideration and kindness in helping others to function more smoothly in life. Joanne, we are sorry for your loss and hope that you and your family find comfort in your many good memories of Don. He will truly be missed. Fritz Gareis

Dear Joanne and family, I join with all of Don's Alpha Delta Phi brothers in extending my condolences for your loss. I trust that Don has not really left you, but that his kind and generous spirit is watching over all of you. Don was one of the heroes that I have met in my life. He was a brother that you could trust with your life, and never repay to him all of the generous acts he did for me and others. You were always in a happy place when you were with Don. May he rest in peace. Bob Gilmartin
