Alice & Uncle Don Mirth left a message on April 1, 2023:
I still can't believe I'm writing this about Don. His sudden passing is a total shock to all of us that knew and loved him. I have a lifetime of very fond memories of Don from the time he was an infant to a few years ago. He was a beautiful towheaded baby. Before he could walk, he would climb anything that was vertical. He had an infectious laugh and lived life with gusto. When he married his lifetime love, Theresa, I remember how joyful and happy he was. He built the family home, and they raised a beautiful family that he was dedicated to and loved dearly. He was a kind, caring, loving man who was ready and willing to help others throughout his life. He was always there when his parents needed him. As an avid White Sox fan, he even took me to a Cubs game. Now that's sacrifice and kindness. He traveled to Colorado for me and to Oklahoma to comfort his closest cousin before Mike passed away. He cared. All of us enjoyed a lot of good times with Don. I'm sure that if he were here today, he would encourage us to continue the good times. But we can't do that Don because we miss you too much. To Theresa, Dolores, Chris, Kathy, Wendy, Stephen, Courtney, all the grandchildren and siblings we know that this is a particularly crushing loss. All the rest of us realize that and share your grief and sorrow. Our hearts, condolences and prayers are with you. Very much love to all: Uncle Don

Having been close friends with Cheryl, I was in grade school when I knew Don. He would have been in his late teens, when he oh so patiently taught us to water ski. That would have been about the same time he and Theresa started dating. Looking back, Don and Theresa's relationship painted the picture for me of what a marriage should be. Clearly his life continued on that path, with patience and love he build a wonderful family, and a legacy. To Theresa, and all the Ellingsens, my deepest condolences. May you find peace in the memories you keep and share.
Andrew Walstra left a message on March 31, 2023:
Chris, your dad was an amazing man. I remember him offering me a job to help roof a place and a couple times when he took us out on the boat to fish. Those fun memories will always stick with me. In these moments of hard times try and remember the fun and good times. I'm so sorry for your loss.
