Dennis W. Poff, 67, of Michigan City, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at home.

Dennis leaves behind his children, Amber Poff (Luke Stigler); Matthew Poff; and Amy Shores, all of Michigan City; grandchildren Weston Smith, Henry Stigler, Elliott Stigler, Payton Shores (Tyler Warth); Makenna Shores; and Dalton Shores; and great granddaughters Morgan, Aubrie, and Bonnie; brothers Christopher (Karen) Poff, Michigan City, and Randy (Betsy) Poff, Michigan City, and many, many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Barbara Poff; and beloved wife, Linda Poff. It was after her passing that Dennis’s family discovered he could cook, and he enjoyed smoking a variety of critters.

Dennis loved to work, and he was in sales at Helman Tire for 18 years. When he wasn’t at work, he was working around the house, on a vehicle, on a friend’s house or vehicle.

Big D enjoyed fast cars, golf, bowling, Alabama football, cheap domestic beer, bourbon, and telling stories. Above all else, he loved his grandkids. From adventures in Wisconsin, Ohio, Alabama and Michigan to cookouts at the house, the kids took the spotlight in everything he did.

Dennis will be remembered for his generosity, warmth, sense of humor, work ethic, storytelling, and his bacon.

Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN 46360. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
