DARWYN JOEL “Frog” McCROVITZ, age 80 of Gary, IN, passed away, Monday, January 11, 2016, at home.

Darwyn was born February 27, 1935 in Gary, IN to Joseph and Margaret McCrovitz. He graduated from Tolleston High School and from Purdue University, School of Pharmacy. Darwyn owned Scarsdale Pharmacy in Gary and retired as a pharmacist from Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso, IN. He enjoyed reading, music, cooking, playing the accordian, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Darwyn is survived by his two sons: Mikel Joseph McCrovitz, Anthony (Amanda) Michael McCrovitz; his two daughters: Michelle (Christopher) McCrovitz Bucich, Angela McCrovitz; his wife of 36 years, Ramona (nee Bianchini) McCrovitz; his sister, Samantha (Thomas) Wild; six grandchildren: Anaise, Sonja, Anthony, John Paul, Gretta Rose, and Peter James.

Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Parastas at 3:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. at Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 557 W. 57^th Ave., Merrillville with Rev. Basil Hutsko officiating. Cremation to follow service. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Memorials preferred to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church.
