Conlin “Con” Eichelberg

Conlin “Con” Eichelberg, age 84, of Michigan City, IN passed away on July 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 26, 1936 in Laporte, IN to Ernst and Linda Stein, who have preceded him in death.  In 1947, he was adopted by Carl and Virginia (Ryden) Eichelberg who have also preceded him in death.  On October 27, 1962 Conlin married his forever bride and love of his life, Maggie (Cagle) Eichelberg who resides in Michigan City.

Con is also survived by his loving children:  Kevin (Imogene) Eichelberg, Gregg Eichelberg and Michelle (David) Christopherson; grandchildren: Robert (Melissa), Chelsea (Scott), Hanna (A.J.), Curtis (Emily) and Alex (Cali); Great-grandchildren: Anthony, Ava, Finn, Carson, Cohen and Abel; brother: Donald (Shirley) Eichelberg; sister: Donna Eichelberg; Step-brother: Warren (Marti) Eikelberg; Step-sisters: Bonnie (Dick, deceased) Hagenow, Ruby (Ralph, deceased) Peterson, Emma Jean (Mike) Downs and Carol Smith (deceased).  He also has many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his stepmother: Lucille (Jim, surviving) Daly.

Con graduated from Westville High School in 1955 where he played varsity basketball.  After graduation he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 150 and retired after 50 years of service.  He was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ and member of the Moose Lodge 980 for over 50 years.  Con was a ‘handyman extraordinaire”.  He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, bowling, golfing, pitching horseshoes and was a former little league coach.  Con was a loving husband, an amazing father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by everyones life that he touched.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN 46360.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 7, 2021 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, with Pastor Bill Fine officiating.
