Claudia Reitsma was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on December 13th, 2021 at age 67, with her beloved husband and dog by her side.
She was born to Claude and Mary Jo Helmker on October 6th, 1954 and grew up in St. Joseph, MI. After graduating from Ferris State University, Claudia moved to Lansing, MI, to work as a Dental Technician, where she met her husband, Michael L. Reitsma, at church. She is survived by her husband, Michael, and children Gale Nieto, Heather (Michele) Reitsma, Joel Reitsma and his wife, Laura Reitsma, as well as her granddaughter, Kayla Nieto.
Claudia loved crafting, gardening, singing in choir, swimming, reading, volunteering as an elementary art teacher, cooking, sunsets over Lake Michigan, bible study, and adventures, but her most valued interest was her family. She never missed an opportunity to reach out and express support or share a funny story with her children and grandchild.
Many people were touched by Claudia’s vibrancy, thoughtfulness, fun-loving spirit, and Christ-like compassion. She will be deeply missed.
Matthew 25:23: His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant…”
