Charles Herald

Charles Robert Herald., 83, of Michigan City passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, IN.

He was born, August 8, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama. After High school he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country from January 1955 to November 1957. After his  military service he attended Western Michigan University where he graduated with Honors. On February 3, 1968 he married Sandra Jo Stephens. Charles started his own accounting firm serving Northwest Indiana. Charles was a great husband, loving father and grandfather who loved, and served the Lord.

Charles is survived by his wife; Sandra: son; Michael (Lisa) Herald: daughters; Tina (Brian) Miller, Trudy Culp: sister; Peggy Hupertz: brother; Michael (Dawn) Nichols: brother-in-law; Jim Stephens: daughter-in-law; Dede Herald: grandchildren; Meaghan (Bobby) Waltz, Daniella Herald, Jasper (Cori) Miller, Benjamin Miller, Oliyia Miller, Atom Miller, Cooper Herald and Joycelynn Herald: three great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Jewel Nichols: son; Stephan Herald: sisters; Janice Ashmoore, Joann Biege: brother-in-law; Rich Hupertz and sister-in-law; Betty Stephens.

Services will be held privately for family, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Charles’ name. Services have been entrusted to Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home.
