Catherine Gallaitis

December 31, 1958 - January 9, 2022

Catherine (Cathy) Gallaitis left us on Sunday, January 9, 2022 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Cathy grew up in Merrillville and graduated from Merrillville High School in 1977.

She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Rene Bukovac of Crown Point and her two sisters, Christine (Gallaitis) Baker who lives in San Diego and Mary (Gallaitis) Howell of Valpariaso. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents: Nick and Beverly Gallaitis of Merrillville.

Cathy will be most remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She found humor, compassion, companionship and family to be the most important things in her life. Her love of sports and anything competitive defined her for many years. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A celebration of life will be planned at a future date.

Cathy was my cousin, she was a sweet soul, always glad to see you with a beautiful smile on her face. My deepest condolences to her sisters Christine and Mary and her partner Rene. Rest In Peace Cathy.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Cathy over the past few years and she always made me smile. Rene and all of Cathy’s family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending our deepest sympathies. We have many fond memories growing up on our cul-de-sac together. Cathy could definitely hold her own on the basketball court and her laughter was contagious. Prayers of comfort for all of those who loved her.

About the loss of Kathy working to miss her I have a special needs son who loves Renee and cathy and they just love him Kathy was awesome person funny you could be depressed or anything and she'll get out of that right away I was wondering if you had talk to Renee I can't get a hold of her

We lost Cathy way too soon. It's incredibly painful to say good bye to a sibling. Mary and I did our best to take care of you, as Mom and Dad did for so many years. I miss you and love you SO MUCH.
