John (Buzz) Meding left a message on November 4, 2023:
Karen and family: We were saddened to hear of Carl's (Boss') passing. Quite often, I think about my camp work experience and the godly influence you and Carl had on me. He taught me plenty, most of which was serving the Lord and dealing with people. The experience of five summers at Camp LRCA has served me well over the years. Several years ago, while driving back home to Indianapolis from a meeting in Chicago we drove through the old camp. Initially, it was surreal. Then reality set in and I realized that times do, indeed, change. God used the camp for His purposes, in His time, and according to His providence. You and Carl were the integral part of the camp ministry. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you in molding and shaping so many lives. including mine. John (Rhonda) Meding

Hello Mom (Karen), I am sorry for your loss and please extend this to your family as well. It's hard to put into words how much Boss (Carl) and my LRCA summers meant to me as a high school student. But I am grateful for those times, those memories, and life long friendships. Thank you.

My deepest sympathies to Karen & family. Carl will always hold a special place in my heart - lots of wonderful memories from LRCA, where my faith was encouraged to grow deeper every day. I will keep you in prayer for the days to come. ??
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Barbara Davis left a message on February 14, 2023:
The first time I met Carl he was still single and living on the second floor of the Hotel in Cedar Lake. Over the years he made such an impact on my life. He provided the setting I needed to find a deep spiritual relationship with Christ, to be directed to Christian leadership and to develop life-long relationships with other fabulous Christian friends. Like all of us he had feet of clay but with an incredible ability to expose his vulnerabilities and not let them stop him from serving the Lord. He was a gifted youth worker, putting up with a lot of teenage shenanigans while setting limits and inspiring devotion yet deflecting it and directing our devotion to God. He was a dreamer and kept pursuing that dream until we were on a new campus in Crown Point. I thank God for Carl's presence in our lives and for the things he accomplished through his service to our Lord. I thank God for gifting Carl with the ability to create an environment for hundreds of youth and adults to dedicate their lives to Christ.

Uncle Carl was kind, caring, funny, intelligent and loved. He touched so very many lives, gave hope to so many who thought there was no hope left, and brought joy to so many. He fiercely loved his family. I remember his ability to make me laugh by wiggling his ears. I always thought he was a male version of I Dream of Genie and magical. When he was with his brothers and sisters - they would laugh and tell stories on esch other. I loved him dearly. May the entire family be blessed and know he is looking out for you all. Sure my mom is giving him the "what for". Lol
