Alan Jones, age 81, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Alan is survived by his wife, Ola Jones (nee Hanning); children: Rick (Tobi) Hamilton of Florida, Jennifer (Lance) Savoy of Michigan City; step-daughters: Laura (Phil) Backe of Milwaukee, Lisa (Joe Stan) Bossi of St. John; grandchildren include Alex, Gus, Anthony (Kayla Page), Nick, Codi, Emma, Destiny; great-granddaughter, Sofia; and sister, Shirley (Jay) Gray.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Ruth Jones; grandson, Vince; and brother, Bob (Joy) Jones.

Alan was a long-time member of Suncrest Christian Church. He served his country in the U.S. Air force. Alan worked for 25 years at NIPSCO. He was an avid golfer.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Suncrest Christian Church, 10009 Parrish St., St. John, IN 46373 with Pastor Greg Lee officiating.

Private inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Alan’s name to Suncrest Christian Church.

Sending condolences and peace to Aunt Ola and family during this difficult time. . He was the funny man. He always made us laugh. RIP Alan. He will be missed.

Al was a very fun, giving person. We had some great times a long time ago. I’m remembering sailing on Lake Michigan with him. Quite an adventure. Prayers for Jenny and Rick and the rest of his family. May God bless you with precious memories and comfort you in his loving arms.

I will miss the jolly times of kidding around with my good neighbor Alan. He was a precious person and will never be forgotten. His by-word became, "Don't Afraid Little Girl." Beautiful Memories stay with us forever.

My dear Alan. I am going to miss your laugh and teasing. You are indeed one of a kind, such a generous and loving man. I have so many fond memories. Love you my friend, rest in peace.
